On Tuesday, a Columbia man was charged with four crimes for allegedly beating a lady at a motel on Monday and threatening to murder her.

Maurice Lee, 34, is charged with unauthorized use of a weapon, armed criminal action, second-degree kidnapping, and first-degree domestic violence.

He is being held without bond at the Boone County Jail. On Tuesday afternoon, there was a court hearing.

Police were summoned to Birch Hill Suites early Monday to look into a report of a man with a gun attacking someone else, according to court filings.

According to the probable cause statement, the subject seemed to have several injuries, had blood on their temple when police arrived, and was losing consciousness while interacting with officers.

According to the statement, Lee allegedly showed up at the hotel room, which was already occupied by other individuals, and pushed his way in after the victim said they had broken up the day before.

The statement claims that Lee assaulted the woman in a restroom, pushed her against a sink, and struck her several times before pointing a gun and threatening to kill her.

The statement claims that after he pulled out the gun and pointed it at everyone in the room, witnesses told police that he threatened to murder them too.
