The coroner’s office has named the 16-year-old boy who died in a head-on crash in Butler County on Thursday.

A 20-minute drive north of Hamilton, at around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, two cars crashed on a stretch of West Elkton Road.

“Not sure exactly what occurred at this point as far as who would be at fault, but ended up having a head-on collision,” Sgt. Poff said.

Poff is in charge of the crash reconstruction unit at the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

He said a 16-year-old boy was driving a 2005 Pontiac north on West Elkton Road when the car crossed the center line and hit a Chevy Suburban being driven by a 60-year-old man.

At the scene of the accident, medics said the teen driver was dead. In the Pontiac, he was with his sister, who is 13 years old.

She was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital because her injuries were so bad they could kill her.

The man in the Suburban was also seriously hurt and had to be flown to Miami Valley Hospital.

The 16-year-old was named Wyatt Sidney Duckworth by the doctor on Friday.

Head of Preble Shawnee Local Schools says the 16-year-old was in the district’s 11th grade. The 13-year-old passenger is the teen’s sister and is in the 8th grade in that area.
