The potentially hazardous surf conditions are a bigger problem in Pacifica than the storm’s rain, as they are in other coastal locations.

However, the windy circumstances that many consider to be awful are ideal for kite surfers like Nano Prefuti and Peter Crocker.

“It was fantastic. incredibly powerful. But it’s frigid. “My feet don’t feel right,” Prefuti added.

While kite surfers may enjoy the large waves created by this week’s storm, the local port patrol warned that boaters may suffer catastrophic consequences.

“We have our storm flags up because of the gale conditions that are currently occurring. Up front of the office, you can see the double pennant flags flying on our flag. As a result, winds of 25 to 30 knots and gusts of 45, occasionally even higher, will be observed. Sea states are quite large. “It’s pretty nasty out there,” Julio Abdallah of Pillar Point Harbor Patrol stated, referring to 11 to 15-foot waves and 13-foot swell coming from the south at 11 seconds.

These circumstances increase the likelihood that boats may sustain damage or perhaps capsize, and they follow many instances of vessels in Bodega Bay this month that resulted in multiple fatalities.

Everyone is being advised to take this storm seriously by the harbor patrol.

“I strongly warn everyone who has a boat that goes out to sea to avoid going out in these kinds of weather. Right now, there’s no reason to leave the house. Abdallah stated, “No one is fishing for anything.”

They claim that even kite surfers are taking measures and keeping an eye on the winds to make sure they don’t get too strong. However, they stated that they would return here for the duration of the storm as long as the weather remained safe.

“This is the spot for high wind especially the winter storms, so as long as it’s here, someone will be here for sure,” explained Crocker.
