Cincinnati On Interstate 71, it was a fairly close call. Over the weekend, a WLWT viewer was able to collect video of the event. It happened on the same stretch of road right before a wrong-way collision.

According to witness Brian Channel, all I could worry about was what would happen to others who lived further north of me.

The headlights on I-71 are flashing in the wrong direction in the footage that was provided with WLWT.

Channel’s dash camera records the moments when he almost gets struck by the car as he turns the corner.

Channel informed me that as soon as I realized it was moving, it was approaching from a different direction. I simply tried to move out of his way and warn them that they were heading in the wrong direction by using the horn and brights, but he was unresponsive.

Channel drove off the exit and dialed 911.

Police said they are looking into an OVI after an accident on Sunday night involving a car going the wrong way close to the Martin Luther King Jr. exit.

We showed Cincinnati police the dash cam footage. Although they are investigating, a spokesman informed us that they are unsure if the car in the video is the same one that was involved in the collision that occurred just up the road at the same time on the same night.

For everyone’s safety, Channel stated, it’s critical that traffic concerns be solved here because so many things happen and this kind of went unnoticed.
