In a final report concluding his multi-year probe of the president’s son, Special Counsel David Weiss justified his handling of the Hunter Biden case.

President Biden’s decision to pardon his son, who was facing tax and firearm charges in two different states, was also condemned by Weiss.

Mr. Biden broke the law, therefore I filed two lawsuits against him. Mr. Biden, who pled guilty to tax offenses, concurred with the unanimous jury’s verdict that he was guilty of gun charges.

I determined that prosecution was merited by applying the Principles of Federal Prosecution, as I have done for the past 20 years. At the start of the 280-page study, Weiss writes.

He swiftly attacked Biden’s treatment of Hunter Biden’s pardon in November, pointing out that the president had called the instances unfair, selective, tainted with unfiltered politics, and a miscarriage of justice.

This statement is incorrect and unnecessary. Weiss wrote.

According to Weiss, other presidents have granted pardons to family members, but none of them have used the opportunity to disparage the Department of Justice’s employees based only on unfounded allegations.

According to Weiss, he simply took into account the factors necessary for a criminal conviction.

I never thought about whether politicians would think well or poorly of my choices. Additionally, I disregarded lawmakers who voiced worries about my behavior since I didn’t care about them. In other words, he wrote, I only considered the law and the facts while making decisions.

The special counsel report’s conclusion is extraordinarily harsh, but it follows a year of multiple firsts for prosecutions.

As a U.S. Attorney for Delaware, Weiss started his investigation against Hunter Biden. He was promoted to the position after Republicans in Congress complained that he had prolonged the probe because of political reasons and had been prevented from filing more serious charges.

Weiss was prepared to enter a plea agreement with Hunter Biden about gun charges, but the court turned down the offer because of reservations about the terms of the agreement.

Hunter Biden’s failure to disclose drug usage when buying a firearm was the basis for the special counsel’s subsequent firearms charges in Delaware. Although it is an uncommon charge, a jury judged it to be credible. In September, Biden was found guilty of all charges.

In California, Weiss also brought charges against Hunter Biden for evading taxes on $7 million in revenue over four years, which led to a $1.4 million tax evasion.

Hunter Biden’s payments to escorts, narcotics, and sports automobiles were brought up in this illuminating indictment.

The evidence demonstrated that Mr. Biden continued to finance his lavish lifestyle instead of paying taxes, even while he maintained high-paying jobs that brought him millions of dollars. Then, Weiss stated, he decided to lie to his accountants by claiming fictitious business deductions even though he knew they were personal spending.

Hunter Biden consented to enter a guilty plea to the tax charges; but, his father stepped in.

The president declared that his son will receive a complete and unconditional pardon on December 1, just before he left for Africa. By doing this, he betrayed months of vows to pardon his son before he left office and to stay out of his son’s legal troubles.

Biden said in a statement that Republicans had made repeated attempts to dismantle the Biden family and that his son was singled out due to his name.

The reality is that, although I have struggled with this, I also think that raw politics have corrupted the legal system and caused a miscarriage of justice. Senator Biden stated that there was no point in further postponing his decision after making it this past weekend. I’m hoping that Americans will get the reasoning behind a father and a president’s decision.

Weiss fought Hunter Biden’s accusations throughout the court that he was being unfairly singled out and that others in like circumstances would not face charges, arguing that he was the victim of a selective and malicious prosecution. Two district court judges dismissed those arguments, according to Weiss.

Congress thoroughly examined the probe, despite Weiss’s denial that his strategy was political.

Two IRS whistleblowers accused the Justice Department of not pursuing the most serious tax charges against the president’s son prior to Hunter Biden’s tax indictment.

Based on a tip to the FBI years ago that both Biden men had accepted a bribe from a Ukrainian tycoon, the issue became the subject of a GOP impeachment probe targeting President Biden.

There is no proof that Biden changed policy while serving as vice president in order to help his son or anybody else.

Alexander Smirnov, a former FBI informant who admitted to lying to the agency regarding President Biden and his son, was later charged by Weiss.

Last week, Smirnov received a six-year prison sentence.

Smirnow was cited by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the leading Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, who likewise said that political meddling had no bearing on Weiss’s work.

This report, which was the outcome of a six-year investigation headed by a Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney who was personally chosen by Attorney General Barr for the position, is just more evidence that their attempt to remove President Biden from office was completely irrational, unfounded, and partisan, he said in a statement, much to the dismay of my Republican colleagues.
