A 35-year-old Morgan Hill man was killed in a multi-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon near Morgan Hill, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP reported that the crash occurred just before 2 p.m. at Live Oak Avenue and Monterey Road.

The man was driving southbound on Monterey Road in a 2018 Honda when he ran a red light at the intersection, according to the CHP.

At the same time, a 2017 Freightliner was turning left onto Monterey Road from eastbound Live Oak Avenue.

Vehicles collided. According to the CHP, the impact caused the Honda to veer northbound on Monterey Road, colliding with a 1993 Jeep waiting to turn left onto Live Oak Avenue. Debris from the crash struck a 2016 Ford behind the Jeep.

The drivers of the Jeep and the Honda were taken to nearby hospitals, where the latter died from their injuries.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will reveal the man’s identity once it has been confirmed and his next of kin has been notified.

According to the CHP, alcohol and drugs did not appear to be involved in the crash.

Anyone with information related to the case can contact the Hollister-Gilroy CHP area office at 408-427-0700.
