After allegedly trying to carry out a hit on a fellow gang member, a Florida man who is already incarcerated faces more time behind bars.

Since June, 22-year-old Jebea Johnson has been detained at the Flagler County Jail for burglary and attempted robbery involving a lethal weapon.

According to a press release from the agency, deputies found a string of phone conversations between Johnson and his relatives approximately a month ago in which he tried to convince one of them to post a message on social media that would put a hit on a man who wanted to leave the gang.

Deputies reported that Johnson had been incarcerated with the victim. Police said Johnson tried to get the man to join the Kutt Throat Committee street gang and prison, but the victim decided to leave.

Johnson, who was apparently enraged, allegedly had a family member use coded gang jargon in a social media post to urge other members to kill the victim.

Family members who were questioned by detectives acknowledged that a message had been placed on Johnson’s behalf, but they were not aware that it meant something else. Before the purported conspiracy could be executed, law enforcement halted it.

Associated coverage:

Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement, “This guy thought he could order a hit from the Green Roof Inn without us catching him.” This dirtbag will be in his current location for a very long time and will be awarded the title of dumbest criminal of the week because we not only knew the slang he was using, but we also have the conversation on tape.

Police also added accusations of illegal use of a two-way communication device, gang affiliation, and solicitation to commit first-degree murder.

Johnson was first taken into custody on suspicion of assaulting a convenience store employee during an armed robbery attempt. He remains unbonded in the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.

The article “Dumbest Criminal” claims that an inmate attempted to use code phrases on a jail phone to target a gang member.
