After her 5-year-old kid was found alone in a park, a Florida mom was charged with child negligence; witnesses said she ran away.
According to an arrest report obtained by WPLG, a local ABC station, Alize Angel Rodriguez, 20, was taken into custody hours after witnesses informed authorities that her small kid had been alone for roughly 20 minutes in a Miami Beach park.
The youngster allegedly told authorities that his mother would leave him at the park as a result of his misbehavior.
The arrest report states that a number of witnesses saw Rodriguez or the boy, including one who saw the mother leave the park and get into a gray Toyota with a male, but not her son.
According to reports, the youngster told police when they arrived and questioned him that he didn’t know where his mother was but that she drops him out in the park when he doesn’t behave well.
Rodriguez seemed to be intoxicated before to departing the park, according to witnesses who observed her at the site.
Another person witnessed her tossing her purse into a bush while strolling along Meridian Avenue, which runs through the park. Police say the bag contained multiple medicines, including Xanax, and marijuana.
When Rodriguez was apprehended by police, he denied being intoxicated.
She was charged with felony child negligence without grave bodily damage and possession of a controlled substance after being apprehended the same day.
Because she had less than 20 grams of cannabis, she was charged with a misdemeanor.
His maternal grandmother was given custody of the boy. Rodriguez is still being held on a $3,000 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. There is no set date for her next court appearance.
