Former Warriors exec Bob Myers appointed to UC Board of Regents

Bob Myers, a former basketball administrator with the Golden State Warriors, was named to the University of California Board of Regents on Thursday, according to UC authorities.

Myers was appointed as a regent by Governor Gavin Newsom, who will spend a 12-year term on the board that sets policy for UC and its campuses.

Before joining the Warriors in 2011, Myers, a UCLA alumnus, worked as a sports agent. During his tenure, the team won four NBA titles, and Myers eventually became general manager and president of basketball operations. Myers has been an ESPN studio presenter and commentator since he resigned from the Warriors in 2023.

In a statement released Thursday, UC president Michael Drake and board chair Janet Reilly welcomed Myers as the university’s newest regent.

“Mr. Myers’ strategic and business acumen, combined with his impressive background in sports leadership, affords him invaluable insights that will help the University of California navigate the changing landscape of college athletics and continue its commitment to excellence in academics and sports,” said the statement.
