Authorities announced Wednesday that a Mountain View barber who is suspected of committing several sexual assaults while the victims were asleep has escaped prosecution and is currently a fugitive.

Franklin Enrique Sarceno Orla has been accused of sexually abusing two men, including one who was abducted, and the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday that it was looking for him. The 34-year-old had secured $250,000 bond when he was first taken into custody in late August.

In a statement, District Attorney Jeff Rosen said, “We are grateful to the Mountain View Police Department for identifying the sexual predator that was present in our community.” “With the help of courageous victims, investigators, and the public we will soon have him in custody to keep him from ever hurting anyone again.”

In July, police opened an investigation after a man said that after drinking with Sarceno Orla, he woke up feeling disoriented and hurt. According to forensic testing, the individual had experienced sexual assault.

A second victim informed authorities that the suspect was his barber and that he had passed out while drinking beer with him.

Police gathered evidence that suggested Sarceno Orla may have raped at least 20 males between 2018 and 2019. According to police, he captured many of the assaults on camera, and the victims seemed to be unconscious or extremely drunk.

The victims are still being identified by authorities.

They requested anyone who thinks they could have been a victim to contact the Mountain View Police Department via email at Detective Lauren RiffelorDetective Guillermo de Lira or by phone at 650-903-6618. Additionally, potential victims were encouraged to be checked for sexually transmitted illnesses by calling their doctor.

If Sarceno Orla is apprehended and found guilty, he might spend the rest of his life behind bars.
