Shortly after being questioned by CNN on claims of a second sexual encounter with a 17-year-old girl, former Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) reportedly retracted his nomination to be President-elect Donald Trump’s next attorney general.

CNN’s Paula Reid stated that the network told Gaetz that the House Ethics Committee had heard charges that he had at least two sexual encounters with a 17-year-old girl, just moments after he declared on X that he was withdrawing his nomination.

We contacted to report that the Ethics Committee had revealed a *second* sexual encounter between Gaetz and a 17-year-old in 2017, and Gaetz withdrew from the AG candidacy 45 minutes later,” Reid said.

The woman, who was 17 at the time of the incident, admitted to having sex with both Gaetz and another adult woman to the Ethics Committee, CNN reports. The lady allegedly testified about both sexual encounters as part of a lawsuit, CNN reported.

Gaetz has denied ever having intercourse with a female who is 17 years old. Before the Ethics Committee could release its report on the congressman, Gaetz just resigned from Congress.
