Platter’s Chocolate Factory is getting ready for “Sweetest Day,” an unofficial holiday that falls on the third Saturday of October each year.
Much like Valentine’s Day, this holiday is all about showing love and appreciation for a special someone.
Heidi Urban, vice president of Platter’s, says Sweetest Day tends to be one of the busier times of the year for the chocolate shop, as many people rush to grab last-minute treats.
“We get a lot of customers coming in to pick up chocolates, especially sponge candy,” Urban explained.
“We offer some special Sweetest Day items like heart-shaped chocolates and even a fun, record-shaped chocolate that says, ‘For the record, I love you.’ It’s always a big hit.”
To meet the high demand for sweets on Sweetest Day, Platter’s starts preparing days in advance.

“We try to remind everyone about the holiday early through social media, so they don’t forget about their loved ones,” Urban said. “We’ve already produced plenty of chocolates to make sure we’re stocked up for the big day.”
For those who don’t have plans for Sweetest Day, Urban suggests visiting Platters for a fun date. “We love it when people come in for the full experience.
Our store is nearly 8,000 square feet, and it’s perfect for a Sweetest Day outing. You can enjoy ice cream, specialty coffee, or even take home a box of chocolates,” she added.
