Every stride is a gift for the Golden State Warriors Dance Team, and they’re giving their fans something extra special this Christmas.
“Here at the Golden State Warriors,” said Sabrina Ellison, director of the team, “we love Christmas.” “We’re assembling a Christmas production. All of our dance teams are preparing for three speciality routines. There are four squads here.
In order to give basketball fans a joyous and unforgettable experience, each squad will be essential. Performance is more than simply a habit for Tamala Thornton, who plays for the Hardwood Classics, the team’s senior group. It’s a privilege and a passion.
According to Thornton, “We love to perform; it’s in our system.” “And we are just so happy and blessed that we have this outlet.”
Even in the face of doubt, Thornton, who belongs to the 55-and-older group, feels that age is no obstacle to spreading her passion for dancing.
‘Oh gosh, you’re fifty and you can still kick your leg up?’ is a common belief. or ‘You’re fifty and still have the ability to dance?’ “Yes, we can,” she affirmed.
Dancers of all ages and genres, from young children to elderly people, will participate in the Christmas Day show. The dance group has also presented a distinctive Bay Area holiday production in partnership with Club Fugazi and the San Francisco Ballet.
“I just really feel blessed to be able to work with a family of dancers from little kids all the way to senior citizens,” Ellison stated. “For us, it’s really about giving them programming, choreography, and performances that empower them as dancers so that our fan base can feel that love and passion.”
The Warriors will play the Los Angeles Lakers in what has become a legendary Christmas Day game, which will only heighten the hype. The game serves as the ideal setting for the Dance Team’s holiday display and represents another phase in the legendary rivalry between two of the NBA’s most renowned teams.
The dancers have become closer as the holiday production comes together, creating relationships that go beyond the basketball court.
Thornton remarked, “You just have almost a second family here,”
That family intends to give holiday cheer to fans of all ages this Christmas Day by lighting up the court with their greatest movements and cheeriest smiles.
