Gulf Coast group will travel to North Carolina to bring resources to Helene victims

A Gulf Coast nonprofit with extensive experience dealing with storms plans to come to North Carolina this weekend to deliver resources.

Members of Krewe of Neptune, the largest all-male carnival krewe on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, intend to provide plenty of food and good vibes to anyone affected by Helene.

Kenny Foreman, assistant lieutenant of the Krewe of Neptune, stated that they had been in comparable situations to what most North Carolinians are currently experiencing.

“It’s, you know, obviously, we know from going through Hurricane Katrina and many of the other storms that we’ve dealt with down here, what it’s like going through that kind of devastation,” Foreman told reporters.

Foreman stated that his parents lost their home to Katrina, and a few family members had to swim out of it. “So we kind of understand,” explained Foreman. “And we feel like we can get on their level and understand where they’re at.”

He stated that they are carrying a large amount of food and intend to feed between 1200 and 1400 individuals while in North Carolina, in addition to providing other supplies. This contains sleeping bags, diapers, clothing, gas heaters, blankets, and more.

The more than 500 crewmembers will be in Burnsville, North Carolina, on Saturday, November 2nd, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at City Hall, 110 Town Square.
