In a statement on Friday, House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., denounced Thanksgiving Day threats against Democratic legislators, which included everything from swatting to precise threats of a pipe bomb left in mailboxes.

Reps. Jahana Hayes, Jim Himes, and Joe Courtney are among the Connecticut House Democrats who received bomb threats at their residences on Thursday.

Jeffries said in a statement that no devices were discovered and that members of Congress and their family were safe over the holiday because of the prompt response from law enforcement.

Jeffries claims that the threats against Democrats were accompanied by the campaign slogan of President-elect Donald Trump, MAGA (Make America Great Again).

The allegations come a day after similar bomb threats were sent to a number of Trump cabinet nominees.

The United States is a democracy. Violence threats directed at elected leaders are intolerable, immoral, and inappropriate in a civil society.

According to Jeffries, anyone who commit acts of political violence against any party must face the worst legal penalties possible.
