Halloween events occurring in Richmond County

In Richmond County, trick-or-treating has begun a little early.

Thursday, October 24, at 8 a.m., Richmond County Hospice will hold its yearly Candy Cavalcade on its campus, which is just north of Rockingham on U.S. 1.

The event lasts from 5 to 8 p.m. and has guests like Capt. Jack Sparrow, Maleficent, and the sisters from “Hocus Pocus.”

A number of people and companies will also be set up for the event, such as:

American Woodmark is also having a trunk or treat on Thursday at its building in the Richmond County Industrial Park, 200 Development Drive, south of Hamlet. “Surprise guests” from all over the community will be at that event.

A group called Darren’s Voice will hold a fall fair and trunk-or-treat at East Rockingham Park on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be games, food, and “tables of goodies.”

“The festival is for the people of East Rockingham and the kids who were left behind because of fentanyl poisoning,” said Shelia Bostic, the event’s founder.

This is also the last weekend for Spooky Hollow at Sycamore Lodge in Derby (7–11 p.m.); the second annual Rocktoberfest will be on the front yard of Rockingham Dragway from 7 p.m. to midnight; and at Axe to Grind, BowTie Entertainment will combine a costume contest with karaoke.

A trunk-or-treat event will also be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Rockingham at 4 p.m., the First Baptist Church of Rockingham (with a car show) at 5 p.m., and the Freedom Baptist Church at 6 p.m.

  • Trick-or-treating at Kemp Sugg Memorial Library, Ellerbe – 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Downtown Rockingham Spooktacular – 4:30 p.m.
  • Hamlet’s Boo Bash – 6:30 p.m. (sensory friendly time 5:45 p.m.)
  • Annual Fall Festival at Grace Fellowship Church 6 p.m.
  • Trunk-or-Treat at Northside Fire Department 6-9 p.m.
  • Trunk-or-Treat at Ellerbe First Baptist Church 6-8 p.m.

Last Friday, Richmond Pines had a trunk-or-treat on its site in Hamlet. On Saturday, MB Drift held one at Rockingham Speedway as part of its annual Halloween Havoc event.
