Recently, a Hannibal man who was arrested on charges of assault was also charged with narcotics violations.
A male assaulted a female inside a car at the Ayerco Truck Stop in Canton on November 24, according to a witness who called the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department. The car has left the scene. After responding to the scene, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office were able to identify the victim and the offender in the same car in downtown Canton.
After a careful investigation, Tayler D. Burgess, 24, was taken into custody for domestic abuse. Inside the car, police found drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine.
Burgess was officially charged by Lewis County Prosecutor Chelsea Fellinger in the Lewis County Associate Court on November 25 with
Third-degree domestic assault is classified as a class E felony.Methamphetamine possession is classified as a class D felony.A class D offense is not having a valid driver’s license.Drug paraphernalia possession is a class D misdemeanor.Burgess is still being held in Lewis County Jail. On Monday, there will be a hearing for a bail review.
