According to authorities on Thursday, a 17-year-old kid has been taken into custody on suspicion of taking part in a June shooting in Hayward that left one teenager dead and another injured.
Officers discovered a 15-year-old Rodeo boy with gunshot wounds after the shooting, which took place in the 24000 block of Second Street just before two in the morning on June 26. Hayward police said he was declared dead at the spot.
Officers discovered that a second victim, a 13-year-old Hayward boy, had been treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital before being released, according to the police.
The 17-year-old suspect, who is not being named due to his juvenile status, was apprehended on Wednesday in the Hayward neighborhood of the 21000 block of Mission Boulevard after investigators finally concluded that he was the shooter.
According to authorities, he was placed on suspicion of murder and booked into juvenile hall.
