Heartbreaking Loss: Young Pittsburgh Man Dies in Portage County Crash!

A tragic accident took place in Portage County early Monday morning, resulting in the death of a 20-year-old man from Pittsburgh, the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) confirmed.

The crash happened on I-76 westbound near milepost 42 in Edinburg Township. The incident occurred around 6:44 a.m. on October 21, according to officials from the OSHP.

The victim, identified as Christopher Underwood, was driving a 2018 Ford EcoSport when the vehicle veered off the road.

According to the investigation, the car initially went off the left side of the highway, hit the median barrier, returned to the road, and then went off the right side.

It then struck a ditch and overturned, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Underwood sustained severe injuries and was transported to University Hospitals Portage Medical Center, where he later died due to the injuries, OSHP confirmed.

At this point, investigators have not determined what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. However, they do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

Several departments assisted at the scene, including the Edinburg Fire Department, Rootstown Fire Department, and Marlboro Towing.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing as authorities work to piece together what led to the tragic accident.
