A sulphur-crested cockatoo in Sydney, Australia, named Mickey, was recently rescued after spending nearly a month trapped inside a Coles supermarket.
The bird, which entered the store through an open loading dock door at Macarthur Square shopping center, had been unable to find its way out.
For weeks, the staff and wildlife rescuers tried to capture the bird, but Mickey managed to evade all attempts.
During this time, the night manager, who had grown fond of the cockatoo, provided it with brioche and water to help it survive inside the supermarket.
The rescue operation finally succeeded when Ravi, a wildlife rescuer from Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Services, returned to the store on Tuesday.
This time, Ravi brought along Doris, another sulphur-crested cockatoo, trained for free flight. Doris helped calm Mickey, allowing the rescue team to safely catch him and place him in a crate.

Mickey, despite the unusual circumstances, appeared to be in good health. Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Services shared on social media that Mickey will soon be released back into the wild, where he belongs.
The team humorously added, “We hope he stays out of trouble and lays off the brioche for many years to come.”
