A mother in Michigan was first charged with involuntary manslaughter for the death of her 2-year-old daughter, but now she is being charged with open murder, according to news outlets in Sturgis Township.

WWMT, an ABC affiliate in Kalamazoo, reported that Paige Nichole Bohne, who is 21 years old, was not given bond at a hearing.

Thomas James, who lives in the Memory Lane Trailer Park where Bohne and her child lived, said, “I wish she had gotten help before this happened.” “She could have made peace with a lot of people before this happened.”

The St. Joseph County sheriff’s office and other first responders went to the trailer park on Thursday around 12:45 p.m. after getting calls about a child who wasn’t responding.

Even though they tried to save her life, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Losing someone is always hard, but losing a child is especially sad, and it affects everyone,” St. Joseph County Undersheriff Jason Bingaman said.

She is said to have said, “My youngest daughter and Octavia were four months apart, and my kids always call her ‘Bactavia.’” “My son always said Bactavia.” “When is Bactavia going to hit this place?” When my oldest daughter, Octavia, saw her, she would always smile and ask her to carry her around.

She said that the last time she saw Octavia was at trunk-or-treating the weekend before Halloween. The kid dressed up as a bee.

“Octavia should have had more.” “I know Octavia was loved by a lot of people; all her mom had to do was get in touch with one of us,” the aunt said. “Nobody would have hurt her if they could have; they would have helped.”
