Prosecutors said Thursday that a paroled convicted child rapist had slashed his ex-girlfriend before pushing her into the subway rails in Manhattan in front of her adolescent daughters.
Around 11 p.m. on November 5, while the 37-year-old victim was waiting for an A train at the 125th Street station, Michael Blount, 29, seized her hair and tried to cut her neck, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors claim that the victim tried to protect herself by keeping the assailant from getting to her neck while he repeatedly stabbed her face with a razor blade.
According to the district attorney’s office, Blount allegedly pushed the woman into the tracks, feet away from her daughters, who managed to get their mother back onto the platform just two minutes before the next train arrived.
Prosecutors claimed that the sicko harassed the victim and her daughters by calling, texting, and avoiding police for several weeks.
On December 28, he was ultimately captured, and on Wednesday, he was charged with attempted murder and other offenses.
According to District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Michael Blount allegedly cut his ex-girlfriend viciously before shoving her into the railroad tracks in front of her teenage daughters.
One of her kids managed to rescue her mother off the tracks, perhaps sparing her life in spite of what must have been a horrifying onslaught.
Shortly before the horrific attack, Blount had harassed his ex-girlfriend and her kids at a deli in Harlem.
Before the attack, Blount contacted his ex-girlfriend and her family at a deli in Harlem several times, according to court filings.
Prosecutors claimed that Blount pursued her and her girls down the stairs to the A-train station after she disregarded him and left the store with them.
According to the district attorney’s office, he then returned to the deli and bought one razor blade before going back to the subway and trying to murder the victim.
Prosecutors say the woman and her daughters were transferred to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital after a passerby called a cab for them. The woman needed reconstructive surgery to heal her injuries.
According to state data, Blount is a registered sexually violent offender and a convicted sex criminal.
According to state Department of Corrections records, he was found guilty of raping a 12-year-old child in Brooklyn in 2013 and given a seven-year jail sentence.
Blount was freed in 2020 with parole till 2025 after being charged with robbery as well.
He was ordered to be imprisoned without bail after entering a not guilty plea in Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday.
