Pooran Ramjattan (61, Kissimmee) entered a guilty plea to attempting to induce a juvenile to engage in sexual activity, according to a statement released by United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg. Ramjattan could spend at least 10 years and up to life in federal prison. There is no set date for sentencing.

According to court documents, on May 1, 2024, an undercover FBI agent pretended to be a 13-year-old girl online. After finding out the child’s age, Ramjattan reached out to the undercover agent’s account and started a sexually suggestive conversation.

Ramjattan then consented to have intercourse with the child at a certain location in Orange County. Police nabbed Ramjattan as soon as he got to the rendezvous location.

This case was looked into by the Orlando Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Kaley Austin-Aronson.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative that the Department of Justice started in May 2006 to address the rising prevalence of child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Under the direction of the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section and the US Attorney’s Offices, Project Safe Childhood organizes federal, state, and local resources to find, apprehend, and prosecute those who sexually exploit children as well as to locate and rescue victims.
