A man has been officially charged with using a sledgehammer to kill a couple in their house.
Cortney Lowe, 33, was charged with felony assault and murder, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.
On December 3, an RTA bus driver told authorities that he spotted a man roaming around covered in blood, as News Center 7 previously reported.
The man, identified as Lowe, told police when they came that he was okay and that the blood belonged to Catherine Bell, 64.
Bell and her husband, Danny Bell, 66, were found dead from beatings when police arrived at their residence.
A bloodied sledgehammer was found in the house, according to News Center 7 at five o’clock.
Lowe told officers that he heard voices commanding him to do what he did while he was in jail, according to court filings.
Lowe is being jailed on a $1 million bond at the Montgomery County Jail.
His appointment is set on December 12.
