A man has entered a not guilty plea on the grounds of insanity after being charged with using a sledgehammer to kill a couple in their house.
Documents from Montgomery County Court show that on Wednesday, December 11, Cortney Lowe’s defense submitted the plea.
In order to assess Lowe’s capacity to stand trial, the defense also asked that he be subjected to a mental examination.
Lowe is charged with killing Cathy and Danny Bell on December 3 inside their house on Holly Avenue.
After a bus driver saw a man covered in blood on the side of the road and called 911, officers found the pair dead.
After being taken into custody, Lowe was accused of four felonious assaults and six homicides.
On Thursday, he will appear in court again for a hearing.
