Yesterday, a 37-year-old guy who reportedly stole a semi-truck was arrested after a tense, hour-long pursuit throughout several Ohio counties.

Joseph Allen Horton led police on a pursuit that started in Middletown and concluded close to the Spooky Nook sports complex in the area. The arrest was confirmed by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

The chase started at 12:47 p.m. when C-Jams Trucking Company reported a missing 2013 Kenworth semi-truck to the Ohio State Highway Patrol and local police. They chased after the car as it hurried to get off Interstate 75.

Authorities had to swiftly use tire deflation devices, or stop sticks, to put an end to the fast-paced pursuit on U.S. 127 close to Spooky Nook, according to Local12 and FOX19.

Horton allegedly threw tools and hammers out the truck window in an attempt to impede the police during the pursuit.

Richard K. Jones, the sheriff of Butler County, posted a video of the pursuit on social media and made remarks about how dangerous the scenario was.

The truck’s reckless weaving through traffic significantly raised the risk to other motorists and responding law enforcement.

Horton is currently facing a fourth-degree felony charge for receiving stolen items and a third-degree felony charge for noncompliance.

Butler County is now handling the accusations, however there are still pending charges from Middletown, Trenton, and Preble County.

The use of stop sticks and the truck’s eventual slow-speed halt marked the conclusion of the chase, according to Sheriff Jones’ Facebook live statement, which the Journal-News stated was a more calm resolution to an otherwise tense situation.
