The Life Celebration of Rickey Henderson

Registration for tickets opens on Monday, January 20.

Henderson, known as the “Man of Steal” and the league’s all-time leader in stolen bases, passed away on December 20 just a few days before his 66th birthday.

Henderson won the 1989 World Series with the A’s during his illustrious 25-year career, which encompassed four consecutive stints with the team. With the Toronto Blue Jays, he had also captured a second World Series in 1993.

Among Henderson’s numerous career achievements are his ten All-Star selections, his twelve stolen base leads, and his 1990 American League MVP award. The A’s retired his number 24, and he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on his first ballot in 2009.

Following his passing, Rickey’s wife, Pamela Henderson, issued a statement via the team, calling her husband “a devoted son, dad, friend, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a truly humble soul.”

She also conveyed the family’s “deep appreciation to MLB, the Oakland A’s, and the amazing medical staff at UCSF who provided Rickey with compassionate and committed care.” Words cannot describe how much your prayers and generosity mean to me.
