Hamtramck, MI: Residents in the Detroit region should brace themselves for snowfall on Friday and Saturday, as well as challenging driving conditions in the morning.

Snow accumulations of up to half an inch are forecast by the National Weather Service for after three in the morning.

Due to the likelihood of slick conditions and decreased visibility, drivers on I-75 and surrounding roadways should take caution.

Forecasters predict that Saturday morning’s conditions could worsen due to strong southwest winds, which could cause ice spots and blowing snow.

Highs on Saturday are expected to be around 29 degrees Fahrenheit, with wind gusts of up to 23 miles per hour. In the evening, there is less risk of snow, with partly overcast skies and a low of about 22 degrees Fahrenheit.

With largely sunny skies and highs of about 27 degrees Fahrenheit, Sunday looks to be a break from the winter weather, while gusts of up to 20 miles per hour are still possible.

With breezy weather, Monday’s high of 34 degrees Fahrenheit will be followed by partly cloudy skies through Tuesday.

Residents should plan ahead for this weekend’s travel and keep abreast of road and weather conditions.

Make sure your car is snow-free and winter-ready if you’re commuting early on Saturday.

Be cautious and stay informed about local weather conditions.
