An Iowa mother is currently in jail and faces several charges, including child endangerment resulting in death, after admitting to authorities that she frequently and carelessly left her 1-year-old son in a filled tub for several minutes at a time, unattended, only for the child to drown when the water reached the top and overflowed.

Following the loss of her child, WayIon, earlier this year, 21-year-old KayIa of Iowa was taken into custody on Wednesday.

When the mom called 911 on the last day of October to report that her son was not responding, the inquiry got underway. First responders found the infant had stopped breathing when they got to the scene.

Doctors pronounced the one-year-old boy dead after they hurried him to the hospital. According to local news channel WHO13, investigators found out after the inquiry that the mom had called 911 after waking up and discovering her child drowning in the sea.

The young mother allegedly told authorities that she put the youngster in the bathtub, stopped the drain, and left the water running.

The mom said she checked on the baby multiple times before she fell asleep. The woman acknowledged, according to the police, that she frequently and carelessly left her child unattended in a filled tub for several minutes at a time.

The woman reportedly reported to detectives that she woke up and went to the bathroom, where she found her kid floating in the overflowing water.

According to the responding cops, there was no food fit for the infant and the parent’s house was covered with rubbish. According to court documents, the 21-year-old mother is being jailed on $1 million cash bail.
