‘Mother f—ers, there’s a lot more coming’: A rioter in a bright orange shirt who battled with police on January 6 and claimed that attack orchestrated by the ‘Swamp’ headed to prison

For his involvement in the Jan. 6 riot, in which he engaged in combat with police and stayed on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol for approximately two hours while they blocked Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election, a Texas man will spend almost two years in prison.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell sentenced Dustin Ray Williams, 33, to 22 months in prison and three years of probation on Friday. Williams entered a guilty plea to assault, resisting, or obstructing certain officers on July 11.

According to a criminal complaint, Williams released a video on Facebook detailing the TRUTH about the rioting, which led FBI investigators to receive a tip in the days after the incident. He said he hadn’t done anything violent or damaging.

The gathering, where then-President Donald Trump lied to his followers about a rigged election, was peaceful, he said. Williams then advanced the refuted assertion that the incident was the result of a highly planned, sophisticated infiltration by Antifa with funding from the Swamp.

But it was evident from Capitol footage that Williams had rioted.

The feds claim that Williams was sporting a bright orange construction shirt bearing the name of a Colorado company he had done business with in the past. According to reports, the owner received numerous irate and threatening phone calls because the shirt bore the name and phone number of the company.

Associated coverage:

Williams was pepper sprayed after allegedly assaulting and grasping police officers and their shields for about 25 seconds, according to the complaint. Feds claim that cell phone footage also shows Williams yelling at police, “You shot an unarmed person, and there’s a lot more coming, mothers.”

Additionally, agents claimed that he was battling those who were trying to enter the building through windows. Williams said in his sentencing memorandum that he had never been arrested before the incident and that he sincerely regrets his role in the riot. Additionally, he did not carry out a severe assault that necessitated lengthy jail time.

Like thousands of others, Mr. Williams traveled to Washington, D.C., to demonstrate political support, according to a letter from his attorney, Kyle Wackenheim. There is no proof that Mr. Williams intended to cause trouble or interfere with the certification procedure.

He didn’t have a flag and came in regular clothes. In contrast to many others, Mr. Williams did not come equipped with body armor, padding, helmets, goggles, or a bag. He had neither pepper/bear spray nor a radio.

On August 1, 2023, Williams was taken into custody by police. 600 of the 1,500 persons charged in the disturbance so far have assaulted police officers, including Williams.

Trump, who will start his second term in January, has hinted that he may pardon the offenders, therefore those with cases still ongoing have requested that hearings be postponed.
