A lady reported that two individuals in a van attempted to abduct her child on Thursday morning in southwest Berkeley, and police are looking into the incident.

Around 7 a.m., the mother and her 10-year-old son were strolling along Ninth and Addison streets when a man and woman in a big white vehicle pulled up, according to the police.

Police said in a press release, “The parent reported that the woman tried to grab the child, but the child and parent were able to run away.”

When the attempted kidnapping was reported at approximately 7:25 a.m., police arrived right away to look for the van, but they were unable to locate it.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Berkeley Police Department at (510) 981-5742. Police are currently conducting an investigation.
