Laurinburg — A Laurel Hill lady faces various drug-related charges after narcotics were discovered in her vehicle parked outside the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).
According to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic Unit, Makayla Goldson of the 9000 block of Malloy Avenue in Laurel Hill was arrested on Tuesday after arriving at the Sheriff’s Office.
According to the SCSO, Officer K9 “Joker” was conducting narcotic searches in public vehicular areas when he was arrested. Goldson’s vehicle was detected, and during the subsequent investigation, illegal substances were discovered inside.
According to the SCSO, two children were found alone in the vehicle while she was out completing other responsibilities at the courthouse.
Goldston was charged with trafficking opium/heroin, felony maintain vehicle C/S, simple possession of marijuana, misdemeanor maintain vehicle C/S, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two misdemeanor child abuse charges.
Goldson was charged criminally and detained at the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. She was issued a $300,000 secured bond.
