Margaret Peggy Preble was killed when she was reportedly struck by a fast-moving vehicle during her routine nightly stroll on a route close to her home in Kentucky.
Around 5:30 p.m. on November 11, Preble was going for her regular stroll along Highway 42, something her husband Larry Preble was accustomed to, according to WAVE, a local NBC affiliate. It wasn’t until it was dark outside and she hadn’t come back that he realized how accustomed he was to her routine.
He said in an interview with WAVE that he contacted her cell phone but got no answer. Using the Find My app on his iPhone, he was able to determine her whereabouts and discovered that her phone was only five minutes from their home.
According to him, his wife seemed to be a thousand miles away. “Oh, she’ll be home in five minutes,” he continued. I waited, but she never showed up. on order to locate her face down on the grass, I got into my car and drove carefully up the street.
Two strangers stopped to help Larry Preble, who was performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on his wife of 48 years. While the other took over Margaret’s life-saving procedures, the first one called 911. However, Larry informed WAVE that she was already chilly and that it was too late.
Emergency personnel told Larry Preble that she never had a chance when they arrived. Margaret had suffered significant lung injury and chest injuries, he subsequently found out. Additionally, Preble claimed to have seen automobile components scattered hundreds of feet up the road.
Investigators thought the motorist continued to drive after striking Margaret at a high speed. They have requested assistance from the public and are still searching for the driver.
“I no longer feel any anger or hatred,” Larry Preble told WAVE. Just sadness. However, how they could strike someone at that speed and still keep moving still baffles me.
