New disability benefit checks in January: U.S. Government confirms you can apply for two different ones

Sharing is caring!

Families in the United States who receive disability benefits can now mark on their calendar the time of the month they will get their new check as 2025 approaches. To receive the normal benefit, we can receive two separate checks in total.

But hardly every American will be able to receive two separate checks. It is important to keep in mind that not all households receive this check, and SSI is one of the payments. Although SSDI recipients can combine their benefits with SSI, SSI is not directly accessible to those who just have SSDI.

January 2025 Disability Payment Schedule

Because it identifies the days that Disability retirees will begin receiving their checks for the entire year 2025, this payment schedule is significant. Accordingly, this will be the first payment for 2025 that includes the Cost of Living Adjustment.

However, because it is an advance payment, the SSI payment scheduled to be delivered in January 2025 does not relate to January 2025 but rather to February. Due to a calendar error, the January SSI payment will be sent on December 31, 2024.

The Social Security payment dates for January 2025 are:

  • January 3rd.

    Payment for pre-May 1997 retirees.

  • January 8th

. Payment for post-May 1997 retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month.

  • January 15th.

Payment for post-May 1997 retirees with birthdays between the 11th and the 20th of any month.

  • January 22nd.

Payment for retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month.

  • January 31st.

    February 2025 SSI payment.

The amount for each disability check is strongly influenced by all aspects of the monthly benefit; nevertheless, the $1,800 payment is an estimate of the average disability check in 2025. Therefore, it makes no difference how much you receive because you will still receive your check without any issues these days.

Keep in mind that Direct Deposit must be enabled in order to receive the funds the same day they are sent. The money will show up in the days after the shipment, but not on the day the Administration sends the Disability check, if this collecting method is not used.
