Scranton Police received a call from Lehigh Valley Hospital in Dickson City, where the victim, identified as Domenick Velez, 27, from Passaic, NJ, was being treated.
According to the police, Velez was in Scranton to buy a vehicle when things went wrong.
The owner of the car reportedly attempted to rob Velez during the transaction.
In the struggle, the vehicle owner shot Velez in the back. Fortunately, Velez is expected to recover from his injuries.
