The last time the federal minimum wage was raised was sixteen years ago, in July of this year. Despite efforts, the pay of $7.25 per hour has not been raised since it was instituted in 2009. But rates are greater in some states, like Florida.

Last September, tipped workers received $9.98 per hour, while the state minimum wage increased from $12 to $13 per hour.

In 2025, the Sunshine State’s minimum wage is anticipated to increase once again.

When the minimum wage will increase in Florida this year

A state constitutional amendment that would raise the minimum wage in Florida by one percent each year until it reaches $15 per hour on September 30, 2026, was approved by voters in November 2020.

After the state legislature adopted the Amendment 2 proposal, which was supported by the public, the minimum wage might be raised gradually, including this year.

Florida’s minimum wage will increase to $14 per hour and $10.98 for tipped workers on September 30, 2025.

Voters in Florida have approved raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour. By September 30, 2026, the full $15 will be paid to employees who do not receive tips and $12 to those who do. This change will be made gradually.ESwswkekZV pic.twitter.com/

This is how Florida s minimum wage will rise in 2026 and 2027

The minimum wage will rise to $15 and $11.98 for tipped workers in 2026. In order to preserve workers’ purchasing power, the amendment stipulates that future raises will be dependent on shifts in the Consumer Price Index, even though it only permits one-dollar increments up to $15 per hour in 2026.
