A number of new laws could be introduced in the Volunteer State as 2024 draws to a close and 2025 gets underway.

On January 1, a number of significant new state laws will become operative.

The Protecting Children from Social Media Act is one such law. Social media businesses will be required by the measure to verify users’ ages and obtain parental consent.

The Protect Tennessee Minors Act will require websites that include sexual content to at least confirm that users are at least 18 years old, in addition to safeguarding children.

In order to help prevent sexual assault in situations involving alcohol, another new rule will mandate more bartender training.

All Tennessee alcohol servers are required to undergo training on the connection between alcohol and drugs and sexual assault as of January 1. It is necessary to finish this training every two years.

More landlord-tenant transparency and greater access to birth control for TennCare clients are two other pieces of new legislation that will be passed.

As soon as these laws go into effect, we’ll keep you informed.
