Albany Snow is predicted to fall in Hamilton and Northern Herkimer counties between early Sunday morning and late Sunday evening, according to a New York State weather alert.
The National Weather Service predicts 1 to 6 inches of snowfall, with higher totals expected north of Route 28. Local transport may be significantly impacted if lake effect snow bands start to form on Sunday morning.
Road conditions are likely to be slick day and night for both locals and visitors. Roads are especially dangerous when there are heavy snow bands because they can fall snow quickly and decrease vision.
Drivers are advised to drive carefully and slowly. From 1 a.m. on Sunday to 1 a.m. on Monday, the advisory is in force.
Residents in the impacted areas, particularly those hit by lake effect snow, are advised by the National Weather Service to be ready for quickly changing conditions.
