Nikki Haley criticizes Trump’s cabinet picks Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Former UN ambassador and 2024 GOP presidential contender Nikki Haley blasted President-elect Donald Trump for selecting Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to prominent posts in his government, both of whom have come under fire for their personal histories.

Kennedy’s appointment to head the Health and Human Services Department was questioned by Haley, who pointed to his prior Democratic party connection and lack of experience in the medical field.

RFK Jr. is who? Haley stated on SiriusXM’s Nikki Haley Live that although he is not a health expert, he has expressed worries about the ingredients in our food, and I agree with him. However, she did state, “That is not his background.” He lacks any medical education, training, or experience. Additionally, she repeatedly referred to him as a liberal Democrat.

Despite his recent declaration that he is not anti-vaccine, Kennedy has a lengthy history of opposing vaccines.

His lengthy history of making false claims on the safety of vaccines has drawn criticism from public health specialists, who fear that he could reverse decades of arduous efforts to raise vaccination rates against fatal illnesses.

Haley, who backed Trump after opposing him in the GOP primary, also criticized Gabbard, a former Hawaii congresswoman and Trump’s choice for national intelligence chief, for her repulsive remarks about human rights abuses in Syria in the past, which she says are reminiscent of Russian propaganda.

Haley informed the audience that this position is ideal for a trustworthy broker who has no strong policy prejudices. I found it appalling that she traveled to Syria in 2017 for a photo op with [Syrian President Bashir] al-Assad at a time when he was murdering his own citizens. Haley went on to say that everything she said was propaganda and talking points from Russia.

Although Gabbard later referred to Assad as a cruel dictator, she justified her 2017 meeting with him as a fact-finding trip. She also voiced her opposition to the US involvement in the Syrian civil war in 2019, asserting that Assad is not the US’s opponent because Syria does not directly threaten the US. A request for comment was not immediately answered by the Trump transition team.

Gabbard opposes US involvement in the Ukraine war and has no experience in intelligence.

The Senate will be expected to advise and consent during the confirmation process after Trump has formally announced their nominations.

Trump had intended to nominate former Representative Matt Gaetz as attorney general, but he pulled his name from candidacy Thursday due to a House Ethics Committee probe into claims of sexual misbehavior and illicit drug usage against him.
