Oakland police are looking into the fatal shooting of a teen in East Oakland

A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in East Oakland on Friday night. This is the third death in Oakland in as many days.

According to Oakland police, the teen was found in the 1100 block of 86th Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on Friday. At the scene, they said he was dead. His name has not been made public yet.

No one has been arrested yet, and police are still trying to figure out why the shooting happened.

The killing was the 74th one this year that the Oakland Police Department is looking into as a homicide.

It was also the third shooting death in the city this week, ending a string of 0 homicides in Oakland that began on September 28. At this point in 2023, police had looked into 112 murders.
