According to reports, Eugenia Michele Wadman, 43, of Ohio, was wearing pajamas when she took her dog for a stroll outside in the bitter weather. But on Sunday, January 26, officials got a worrying report about a woman who was not responding.
Wadman reportedly received injuries that led to hypothermia after falling throughout the night. Unfortunately, she died as a result of this.
Wadman was hurt when she fell while walking her dog, according to preliminary findings from the Huron County Sheriff’s Office inquiry, according to WKYC.
The injuries are said to be consistent with crawling and struggling in the yard covered in ice and snow. At 11 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to a 911 call and found Wadman’s death.
Deputies said that the temperature was about 20 degrees at the time, according to PEOPLE. Because of the low temperature and the fact that she was only wearing pajamas, Wadman became hypothermic.
When the core body temperature falls below 95 degrees Fahrenheit, the condition is known as hypothermia, according to the Mayo Clinic. Organ and system failure may eventually result from this illness.
The Norwalk Reflector claims that there is no indication for authorities to suspect foul play in Wadman’s death. Nonetheless, they think that the event that led to her death might have been influenced by an underlying medical condition.
Wadman’s body will be autopsied by the Lucas County Medical Examiner. The event is still being looked into by the sheriff’s office. The condition of Wadman’s dog is unknown at this time.
Hypothermia Death
At least three additional Ohioans lost their lives to the cold in January alone. A man who was found face down in the snow on Tuesday passed away, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
A 94-year-old woman passed away at home on January 6 as a result of the cold. Ultimately, an 8-year-old Lincoln Heights man passed away on his porch on January 7. Hypothermia is believed to be linked to all three.
Huron County Public Health published some guidelines for accurately diagnosing hypothermia on Facebook a few days prior to the Eugenia Michele Wadman incident.
Adults should be mindful of symptoms such as shivering, fatigue, confusion, slurred speech, drowsiness, memory loss, and fumbling hands. Conversely, infants may have little energy, chilly skin, and blight red.
When a person’s fever falls below 95 degrees, they should get medical help right away.
