Authorities in Oakland say they have arrested a suspect in relation to a shooting death that occurred on Tuesday morning on East 12th St.
Officers responded to several ShotSpotter activations on the 2200 block of East 12th Street shortly before 9 a.m., according to a release from the Oakland Police Department. Officers arrived to discover a victim who had been shot at least once.
After paramedics arrived on the scene to help, they took the victim to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead after passing away from their wounds. According to authorities, one unidentified person was held by officers in connection with the incident while the investigation was ongoing.
The circumstances surrounding the incident were being investigated further by homicide investigators. Until the victim is positively identified and notified of their next of kin, their name is being kept confidential.
