Seven people were shot in Macon early Thursday morning, one of them died, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
At 1 a.m., deputies arrived on the scene of the incident in the 1000 block of Triple Hill Drive. After finding three victims who had been shot, they took them to Atrium Health Navicent, where Jawasiki Guyton, 34, passed away.
Authorities found that one victim was sent to Piedmont Macon Medical Center, and three others were driven in private automobiles to the same hospital. Five of the injured are likely to recover, while an 18-year-old man is in critical but stable condition.
Police said that after a fight broke out, someone pulled out a gun and started shooting.
Investigators said that the house, sometimes referred to as the “shot house” or “neighbor plug,” was used to distribute illegal alcohol.
The sheriff’s office reports that a home was the scene of the first homicide in Bibb County in 2024.
