After reportedly sealing their 7-year-old daughter’s mouth shut, a mother from Oklahoma and her boyfriend are facing murder charges.

When Violet Mitchell passed away in August, she was only 7 years old and weighed 29 pounds. According to court documents, the girl’s mother, Lisa Mitchell, 31, and her boyfriend, Anthony Yonko, 37, are now facing second-degree murder charges.

According to an arrest record obtained by KOCO, the infant endured severe abuse during her short life. As stated in her obituary, she passed away on August 2.

The investigation found that her mother fastened the girl’s legs to the crib with zip ties and primarily struck her with a broomstick.

She added that the relative would untie the little child and take the glue out of her sealed-off mouth when she could.

Early in August, Mitchell and Yonko brought Violet to SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital. Within an hour of her arrival, Violet passed away. KFOR reports that a doctor informed authorities that the baby weighed just twenty-five pounds, had bruises all over her body, and had crimson fluid gushing from her lips.

After finding the tip of a baby bottle lodged in the child’s small intestine, the medical examiner’s office concluded that the child had died from failure to thrive, according to KOCO.

According to the office, she was wearing a diaper that was otherwise suited for a three-year-old, and her eyes were sunken. She was basically skin on bone, according to the autopsy report, which Law & Crime reported.

According to the investigation, this examiner is unsure if the intestinal blockage caused by the foreign body was unintentional or deliberate.

“This child’s death is a profound tragedy, and we are grateful to our law enforcement and medical partners whose efforts will help us and the community better understand the circumstances surrounding her death,” the Oklahoma Department of Human Services told the source.

According to court documents, Anthony’s brother, David Yonko, and Lisa’s sister, Tiffany Mitchell, are also accused of second-degree murder. It’s not immediately clear how they fit into the situation.

According to court documents, all four have entered not guilty pleas. The Oklahoma County Detention Center is where they are being held.
