A shooting incident took place outside a shopping center on San Antonio’s North Side on Sunday, resulting in two people being critically injured.

Authorities believe that the incident was linked to a drug deal that went wrong.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 7200 block of Blanco Road, close to Lockhill Selma Road. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and arrived to find two people with serious gunshot wounds in the shopping center’s parking lot.

They were immediately taken to the hospital, where they are currently fighting for their lives.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting was likely the result of a dispute during a drug deal between a single individual and a group of three teenagers.

During the transaction, both the individual and one of the teens were shot.

Police have not yet released full details on what specifically triggered the violence, but they confirmed that the two other individuals involved in the incident have been taken into custody for questioning.
