The San Mateo Police Department says that a woman a man met online robbed and took him hostage.
The theft took place on Thursday. The victim told the cops that he talked to Luciana Romano, a woman from San Mateo, on Facebook for two days with the goal of “dating.”
When they met on Hillsdale Boulevard, Romano allegedly made threats against the victim as they walked to his car, according to the police. San Mateo PD says Romano asked to be driven to a gas station in San Carlos and for the victim to use an ATM to get cash.
The victim was then made to drive to a motel in San Carlos for a “brief stop.” According to the police, Romano then told the victim to drive back to San Mateo. The victim ran away on foot in the 100 block of 37th Avenue.
At 8:12 p.m., the victim called San Mateo PD. The victim gave police pictures of Romano, which helped them figure out who she was.
The next day, cops found Romano outside of her apartment and arrested her.
Romeo was taken to the county jail on charges of kidnapping and robbery.
