Police say a man has been arrested in North Carolina for the St. Patrick’s Day murder of a Maryland mother

After reportedly shooting and killing a young mother in Prince George’s County on St. Patrick’s Day, a Maryland man was taken into custody in North Carolina.

According to the police, Raheem Hawkins-Boseman, 23, is accused of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Jessica Somerville, 27, of Suitland.

Police said that on March 17, 2024, at 2 a.m., Hawkins-Boseman opened fire at a fast-food restaurant on Silver Hill Road in District Heights. Somerville was discovered with a gunshot wound in the parking lot. Later on, she passed away.

Somerville, who is the mother of a 6-year-old girl called Jaci, was employed by the USPS.

A portion of the confrontation before to Somerville’s shooting death can be seen on surveillance footage made public by Prince George’s County police.

Authorities verified his arrest Thursday morning after he had eluded them for over eight months. According to authorities, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department helped in his capture.
