After a woman was tragically stabbed inside a home over the weekend, Peninsula police have detained a Redwood City man on suspicion of homicide.
Officers were summoned to a residence on the 900 block of 7th Avenue, between Page Street and Bay Road, at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Sunday in response to a reported assault. The caller informed the cops that he had just stabbed the victim at their shared home.
The caller was outside the house when the police arrived, and they took him into custody without any problems.
After that, officers went inside the house and found the victim, who had been stabbed several times. The woman received immediate medical attention from firefighters and paramedics, but she was declared dead at the spot.
No one knew who she was.
In order to control the “large number of witnesses” to the incident, deputies and police from nearby Menlo Park were also dispatched to the residence. The murder weapon was found when an investigation was conducted after the scene was secured.
On suspicion of homicide and felony weapons charges, the defendant, Juan Antonio Garcia, 57, was admitted to Redwood City’s Maguire Correctional Facility.
Garcia is the only suspect, according to police on Monday, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
