San Jose Fire crews fighting 2-alarm house fire

Authorities say firefighters are responding to a two-alarm house fire that occurred Monday afternoon close to the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose.

The fire department’s account tweeted that the incident was initially reported just before 4 p.m. on Monday. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they discovered a single-story, single-family home on fire on the 2500 block of Monterey Road.

As firefighters assisted in evacuating every inhabitant from the building, a second alarm was activated at the scene. According to firefighters, live wires were brought down at the scene by the fire.

The public was being warned to stay away from the area as traffic on Monterey Road was being affected in both directions.
