A 38-year-old Santa Rosa man was taken into custody by Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office detectives on Monday on suspicion of killing his 80-year-old father.
The 72-year-old mother of the suspect was also taken into custody on suspicion of accessory after the fact.
According to sheriff’s officials, Cody Molica called dispatch at around 12:30 p.m. Monday to report that he had shot and murdered his father, with his mother, 72-year-old Beverly Molica, present.
When deputies arrived in the 4300 block of Stony Point Road, they discovered Richard Molica dead on the floor of the living room, seemingly from a gunshot wound. They took Cody Molica into custody.
Beverly Molica was found and taken into custody by detectives in Vallejo.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Cody was taken into custody by deputies on January 21 on charges of elder abuse after he allegedly injured his father by pushing him to the ground during a fight. Additionally, he allegedly threatened to murder himself and his parents.
The following day, Cody was set free with restrictions that included not talking to his father, allowing search and seizure, and not having access to weapons or ammunition.
On suspicion of murder and conspiracy, detectives detained Cody on Monday and checked him into the Sonoma County Jail. He is not being released on bail.
Beverly was charged with conspiracy and accessory after being brought into the Sonoma County Jail. Additionally, she is being detained without bond.
